Often dubbed the ‘Queen of Country’ in her home country, Jody Direen hails from a small, mountainous alpine town in New Zealand called Wanaka. After a solid five years traveling between her home country, Australia and the USA touring, writing and recording, she signed with major record label, ABC Music.

Relax in the Garden Bar at the Ellesmere Spring Show. Craft beer from all around NZ along with Wine from our local Lone Goat winery will be served all day long. There will also be Whiskey tastings for the Whiskey conisour. The Grand Parade, this year featuring a live machinery parade. Modern versus old, Traction engines versuse modern day combines and everything in between. Starting 3:00 pm main ring with the famous lolly scramble!

Farm yard tent, full of baby farm yard animal’s puppys, ducklings, rabits, chickens, lambs, piglets and much more including the famous live Eel tank full of native long fin Eels. This year the farm yard tent is bigger than ever with plenty of room for the whole family including the stroller!

Needle in the hay stack for young children, find the needle in the hay and win a prize, all day by the farm yard. Very entertaining to watch!


Side Show Alley every kids favorite place, It is not a show unless you have been on the Ferris wheel what a view of the show. Lots of new rides and attractions this year


Dog trials An amazing spectacle watching these incredibly intelligent dogs manuvering stuborn sheep around a set course in the farstest time possible. A real traditional favourite for young and old. Starts at 7:30 and runs to 11:00 behind the members car park


Shearing watch the countries best shearers peel the wool off the sheep’s back as effortlessly as ever. It is pretty to watch and amazingly professional, so fast how do they do it. Incredible concentration. One of the most difficult show sports out there and always pulls a large crowd.


Wood chopping Top New Zealand champions from around the country competing in under arm overhead, tree climb and sawing events including womens chop not to be missed These competitors are true athletes.


Wearable arts A fashion parade not to be missed in the Farmlands feature tent by the main ring shows at 11:00 am and 1:00pm Including Models parading winning garments from the world wearable arts championships


Arts and Crafts   Over 100 stalls selling and displaying everything from Silk scaffs to the latest in computer and phone technology


Food Stalls Not just the children’s favourites, candy floss, popcorn hot dogs and Mr Whippy but also an amazing diversity of cuisine including Asian, Indian, German, South African and everything in between.
Pastries, home butchers small goods, deserts and delicatessen style food. The one day you can forget about your waist line and celebrate your successes.
